Rachael has more than 20 years of legal experience, including working as a solicitor and barrister in Sydney. Rachael joined Lee Sames Egan in 2010 and became a Principal/Lawyer Director of the firm in 2011. Since joining LSE, Rachael has focused on all aspects of property law and conveyancing, Wills, probate and estate administration.
Rachael has a keen interest in helping her clients to protect their wealth and their wishes by planning ahead for death and possible incapacity. Rachael helps clients with clear estate planning advice and documentation including Wills (simple and complex), enduring powers of attorney and appointments of enduring guardian. This involves working with clients, often with input from their accountants, to ensure that clients understand their financial affairs and structures and how their assets will pass on death, including understanding and nominating how their superannuation death benefits will be distributed.
Rachael also advises on deceased estates. She assists Executors to carry out their duties at a difficult time, providing sensitive support and guidance, including to obtain probate of the Will from the Supreme Court, selling and transferring estate assets, and distributing estates to beneficiaries.
Rachael is undertaking a Masters (Applied Law), majoring in Wills, Estates and Estate Planning, and was recently awarded a High Distinction in “Fundamentals of Estate Planning”.
In 2006, Rachael qualified as a barrister and joined one of Sydney’s leading commercial chambers in Phillip St (Sixth Floor Selborne/Wentworth) where she worked on high profile corporate and trade practices cases for clients such as The Seven Network and the Australian Securities and Investments Commission.
Before becoming a barrister, Rachael was a Senior Associate at top tier national law firm Ashursts (then Blake Dawson) specialising in Competition and Consumer Protection Law.
Rachael returned to Coffs Harbour to give her two young sons the freedom and happy childhood that she enjoyed growing up in this area and to apply her skills and experience for the benefit of local businesses and individuals.
Rachael was featured in Coffs Coast Focus Women In Business in 2012.
